RN Clinical Nurse (Long Term Care)

Summary The RN Clinical Nurse provides patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. The role is accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and ThedaCare policy, and collaborates with the care team to achieve patient outcomes that meet ThedaCare’s high standards of care. The RN fosters a culture of innovation, growth, and professional development. Job Description Key Accountabilities: Utilize the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and specific competencies to assess the physical condition and nursing needs of patients, and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the patient and interprofessional team. Plan for the care needs of patients with the interprofessional team to provide the highest quality care and clinical outcomes. Demonstrate clinical expertise in the assigned specialty, performing all functions of a professional clinical RN, age-appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific. Identify ways to improve the patient’s experience of care, streamline care processes, lower costs, and promote quality to enhance satisfaction for patients, families, and team members. Contribute to a professional environment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and development to retain expert clinicians. Provide consultation and maintain positive relationships with physicians and other interprofessional team members, collaborating to problem-solve and improve patient care. Demonstrate, anticipate, and proactively manage risk to prevent crises; perform skillfully in life-threatening emergencies, matching demands and resources during crisis situations. Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred Current Wisconsin RN Licensure American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) Certifications and Licenses American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) – RNs with less than 1 year of ED experience must complete within 18 months of hire and maintain every 4 years; RNs with more than 1 year of ED experience must complete within 12 months of hire and maintain every 4 years. Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP) Physical Demands Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Exposed to blood-borne pathogens while performing duties. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to perform patient care procedures. Work Environment Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Occasional high noise level. Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time. Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another, with low likelihood of injury if proper body mechanics are followed. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents. Occasional contact with aggressive or combative patients.
