Field Communications Technician

Overview Position Overview. The Field Communications Technician III provides regional telecommunications field support across a wide range of communication technologies. The role requires a highly motivated, self-directed individual capable of performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-call support for communication systems used in field operations. The technician will support local projects, conduct preventative maintenance, resolve system issues, and offer first-level training to operations personnel. The position requires collaboration with internal teams, field staff, and contractors. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot communication systems, including voice, data, SCADA, video, microwave, and satellite components, as well as supporting infrastructure. Support project teams in implementing new communication systems or upgrades. Oversee and direct contractors performing installation or maintenance activities. Provide first-level technical assistance and training for field operations personnel. Serve as the primary point of contact between field operations and the IT/communications support group. Help maintain and reinforce field standards; communicate feedback to engineering teams. Provide 24/7 on-call support as required. Travel up to 40%. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Electronics or 7+ years of equivalent technical experience required. FCC license preferred. Network certifications (e.g., CCNA) are a plus. Minimum 7 years of experience installing or maintaining telecommunications systems, including wireless data systems, SCADA, and LAN cabling. Experience with phone systems and microwave communication systems is preferred. Ability to use test equipment and diagnostic software for field telecommunications. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills when working with internal teams and external partners. Ability to work outdoors and safely operate a motor vehicle. #J-18808-Ljbffr NES Fircroft
