Railcar QA Supervisor

The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor at CF Rail Services leads and coordinates all quality assurance activities to ensure compliance and achieve program goals. Responsibilities Oversee the quality assurance programs within CF Rail Services, ensuring they are maintained and executed in accordance with the Association of American Railroads ("AAR"), manual of standards and recommended practices, specification for quality, and related AAR rules and technical standards. Continuously review quality assurance standards, reports, and all related documents for compliance. Implement solutions for improving current programs to ensure regulatory requirements and customer expectations are met. Monitor company quality standards and requirements on all work that is performed. Perform audits to ensure established quality standards are adhered to. Assist in coordinating and actively participating in quality audits, customer audits, M-1003, M-1002, FRA/AAR, etc. Review and analyze data collected during internal/external audits, NCRs, in-process and outbound inspections. Provide detailed reports to the operations team. Participate in quality‑related investigations and communicate appropriate findings to the operations team. Ensure that all nonconforming conditions are addressed through corrective and preventive actions. Assist in following up on corrective actions issued from nonconforming conditions and help facility leadership determine root cause. Partner with local teams to implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions, ensuring that all corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Oversee employee certification and training requirements. Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration compliance. Work closely with operation leadership and other production supervisors to resolve any matters that affect the quality of repair work performed at their locations. Wear PPE in appropriate areas. Act to support the interests of the department and organization and perform other duties as assigned to ensure the successful achievement of departmental and company objectives. Qualifications and Experience High School Diploma. Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years’ experience in a related field. Root‑cause problem‑solving ability; understanding and applying problem‑solving skills to seek continuous improvement in all work processes and a demonstrated track record of results (process improvement). Effective written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of railcar repair procedures, customer requirements, and quality assurance manuals. Strong industry knowledge (AAR M‑1003, M‑1002, Field Manual, FRA, and Transport Canada). Ability to teach compliance to industry requirements (AAR, FRA, etc.) and resolve questions related to the AAR Field Manual inspection and repair requirements. Understanding of welding‑process variables and proper procedure usage and documentation. Audit experience of special processes such as welding operations and welding equipment. Strong computer skills for scheduling, communicating, and reporting. Understanding and ensuring compliance with all personal protective equipment requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Physical Requirements Work assignments involve standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, crawling, and crouching in strained and awkward positions for prolonged periods of time at various heights up to 20 feet. Use of hands, legs, and arms to climb vertical ladders to staging or suspended platforms. Lifting, carrying, and setting up equipment and components that weigh up to 50 lbs. Employee must be medically certified to wear a respirator, and be able to wear respirators for prolonged periods of time. Work Environment Work will be performed outdoors and indoors, on and around heavy equipment. May be required to work overtime and/or varied shifts to meet the demands of the business.
