Interested in joining us on our journey? The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) for Plastics is an entry position into the Plastics AME team. This role involves executing tooling and equipment project activities. These include project Equipment Qualification maintenance and documentation, participating in part and mold design reviews, tracking mold build schedules, supporting mold trial planning and execution and working cross-functionally to achieve final mold/equipment acceptance.This role will work closely with counterparts in the Center of Excellence (COE), which is the internal plastics “supplier” of all Appliance Park in-house molded products.PositionAdvanced Manufacturing Engineer- PlasticsLocationUSA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create PossibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES:Manufacturing Project Management:Participate in cross-functional team meetings and design reviews for injection molds, injection molding presses and associated automation equipmentSupport the GE Appliances Business Change Request (BCR) processAssist Senior/Principle AME to develop technical specifications to ensure accurate and timely delivery of associated molds/equipmentSupport Equipment Qualification projects in Oracle Agile, helping to ensure deliverable dates and project status remain accurate and up to dateSupport Senior/Principle AMEs in reporting on capital spending, project timeline/delivery status and other KPI related aspects of a projectSafety, Quality, Productivity, Cost:Maintain certified Lock Out (LOTO) status for safe equipment operationSupport completion of supplier Risk Assessments and EHS approvals of all applicable equipmentParticipate in part dimensional and tolerance requirement reviews to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM)Collaborate with Plastics CAE experts to analyze design, quality and productivity related aspects of new plastic part designsSupport RFW (Request for Quote) and Pugh Matrix comparisons for supplier selectionSupport communications within the COE team to ensure smooth plant implementation of molds and equipmentWhat You'll Bring to Our TeamPosition Requirements:Ability to collaborate within the organization to support operational success and continuous improvementHigh energy, initiative, and motivation to contribute to a team-oriented environmentOrganizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficientlyGood problem-solving methodology and strong follow-through on initiativesMinimum Qualifications:2+ years of experience in injection molding or manufacturing engineeringExperience working in a high volume manufacturing environmentWorking knowledge of Project Management in a technical cross-functional manufacturing environmentExperience working with MS OfficePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (plastics / mechanical / manufacturing engineering / industrial / electrical)Injection molding design and/or processing knowledgeExperience working with End of Arm roboticsWorking knowledge of GD&T dimensional requirementsExperience with MS ProjectWorking Conditions: Working conditions are normal for both an office and manufacturing environments.Work may involve lifting materials and products up to 25 pounds.Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, work shoes/boots.Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.Work will include walking and standing for extended periods, using stairs, cross-overs and ladders.Up to 30% of travel required for international and domestic travel to plants, suppliers, etc.Our CultureOur work is centered on our People and Culture as reflected in our Zero Distance philosophy and we recognize the importance of reaffirming our commitment to inclusion and diversity (I&D).
