This is done in accordance with the guidelines of the institution. The Radiation Therapist must operate high-voltage machinery safely and accurately. It is essential to communicate any malfunctions to pertinent personnel immediately. The individual must prioritize the welfare of the patient at all times. Professional conduct is vital to the well-being of the radiation oncology patient. The Radiation Therapist will provide radiation therapy as prescribed by a radiation oncologist according to established practices. Accurate entry and maintenance of patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record are required. The therapist must accurately interpret computerized treatment plans. Daily observations of patients for reactions should be conducted, with immediate reporting of any adverse reactions to the radiation oncology nurse or the radiation oncologist. The Radiation Therapist should facilitate complex problem-solving regarding technical issues. Adherence to established radiation safety protocols is mandatory.
