Hindu Chaplain - Emory University

Reporting to the Dean of Religious Life, the Hindu Chaplain supports the dean in providing overall support for spiritual life at the university by providing support for a specific campus religious or philosophical community, or for several smaller programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides outreach to organize the Hindu community and develops leadership groups. Collaboratively assesses needs and develops short and long-term goals. Collaboratively plans, develops, and implements high-quality spiritual life programs including weekly gatherings, holiday observances, retreats, service and social justice projects, and fellowship events. Provides pastoral care and leadership in invocations, memorial services, vigils, and other rituals as needed. Provides education and trainings for particular and general audiences. Participates and shares leadership in departmental and interfaith initiatives. Meets regularly with the Dean, the department, and designated department partners. Collaborates with Program Directors, and serves as a departmental liaison with assigned schools, units, and committees. Connects the campus with local, regional, and national opportunities and resources. Plans and monitors program budgets. Composes outreach letters, communications, and reports. Administers policies and procedures. May supervise graduate interns and student workers. Performs related responsibilities as required. The Hindu chaplain is expected to support a pluralistic approach to the tradition served.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree in divinity, theology, religion, philosophy, ethics, or a related field and two years of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. #J-18808-Ljbffr Acslhe
