Project Manager

Job Purpose

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of complex industrial electrical construction projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, risk management, and client communication. Their role is to facilitate the completion of electrical projects and ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications, by coordinating the activities of an entire team. The Project Manager may often manage multiple projects simultaneously and mentor junior team members.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

• Establish, implement, and support project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy and project requirements.
• Responsible for initiating and maintaining communication with client and project contacts to facilitate construction activities and project objectives.
• Monitor/control construction projects through administrative direction of on-site Foreman or Superintendent.
• Ensure project is built in alignment with schedule, budget; investigate situations they may impede project success and implement immediate corrective measures as needed.
• Ensure proper staffing, sufficient materials and equipment are ordered and received on time and monitor project spend and make adjustments as needed.
• Review/compilation of subordinate's administrative paperwork (Timecards, daily reports). Responsible for timely submission of these records to the home office.
• Responsible for making sure all subcontract and supporting documents are obtained before the subcontractor begins work, Submittals, RFIs, licensing, permits, tax certificates, blue-stake bonds, and insurance certificates are obtained as needed.
• Plan, organize, and support staffing key field positions through collaboration with Human Resources.
• Representing the Company in project strategy meetings with clients.
• Manage project financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc.) to protect the company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with the client.

• Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
• Must have superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
• Must be able to demonstrate business-oriented acumen.
• Must be able to make decisions and/or recommendations which can impact corporate relationships with clients and project operational or financial performance.
• Computer literacy for spreadsheet and word processing software.
• Time management skills, especially familiarity with calendar management and goal setting.
• Familiarity with the work being done by each team member.
• Knowledge of project management processes, such as Scrum.

Education, Qualifications, & Experience (include but not limited to)

• Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent, plus extensive (ten or more years) experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management required.
• Experience in mining operations helpful
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must maintain the following safety certificates: OSHA 10 hr., Forklift, CPR, and First Aid.
