QUALIFICATIONS
Education (Required) Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school. Active and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of California. Current DEA and CPR certifications. Experience: (Preferred) Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience, preferably in a community health or FQHC setting. At least 3 years of experience in oral health compliance, risk management, and quality improvement. Master of Public Health (MPH) or related graduate degree preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of HRSA, FQHC, and state compliance standards, as well as quality improvement methodologies (e.g., PDSA cycles, Root Cause Analysis). Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting for performance monitoring and compliance. Proven ability to lead and engage clinical staff in quality and compliance initiatives. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative data analyses. Commitment to patient-centered care and the mission of community health. Licensure/Certification: DDS, OSHA Certification, CPR License, X-ray Radiation License Employees are responsible for maintaining individual certifications as required by job function or by law and provide verification and recertification when requested by management.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties: Essential Clinical Duties (80%) Provide comprehensive general dental services including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and patient education. Deliver restorative treatments, performing oral hygiene and preventive procedures. Carry out periodontal services including but not limited to SRP and Periodontal Maintenance, providing endodontic therapy, performing dental extractions, and offering pediatric dental service. Perform examinations, cleanings, restorations, extractions, endodontic procedures, and other indicated treatments within scope of licensure and credentialing. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. Collaborate with dental assistants, hygienists, and support staff to maintain efficient and effective clinical operations. Ensure proper documentation and charting in the electronic dental record in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Promote oral health education and prevention programs to improve patient and community health outcomes. Administrative, Quality, Risk, and Compliance Duties (20%) Lead and coordinate dental quality assurance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives across all dental sites. Conduct ongoing risk assessments and assist in developing mitigation strategies to promote patient safety and reduce potential liabilities. Address and coordinate responses to patient complaints and grievances, ensuring timely, empathetic, and compliant resolutions. Keep up to date clinical performance data and support the Chief Dental Officer and Dental Director in analyzing clinical performance and developing strategies for continuous improvement. Collaborate with the Risk management and Quality Department to align oral health quality initiatives with organizational and HRSA standards. Participate in quality meetings and contribute to the development of departmental goals and performance benchmarks. Identify trends, conduct root cause analyses, and recommend evidence-based solutions to improve service delivery and patient satisfaction. Maintain and improve quality monitoring tools and dashboards to track performance and outcomes. Conduct and manage dental chart audits, peer reviews, and provide feedback processes. Develop and deliver educational sessions and materials for staff related to compliance, quality improvement, and risk management. Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and HRSA regulations applicable St. Johns dental programs. Support provider onboarding and training on compliance, risk, and quality processes. Participate in internal and external audits, quality reporting processes. Assist the Chief Dental Officer/Dental Director in reviewing and developing policies and procedures that promote clinical excellence and patient safety.
