Specimen Technician

Job TitleJob Overview:Pay Range: $16.10hr - $21.10hrRequirement/Must Have:High School diploma or equivalent.Basic understanding of computers.Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.Ability to work in a biohazard environment practicing safety habits.Availability for nightshift, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive environment.Ability to adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.Adherence to core values, safety, and compliance policies.Responsibilities:Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station and presort.Handle pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.Perform imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting of specimens.Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner.Learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests.Maintain understanding of compliance regulations related to test ordering.Maintain a neat and clean work area.Nice To Have:Knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.Previous laboratory experience.Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.Previous hospital laboratory experience.Previous experience in a production environment.Skills:Data Entry.Centrifugation.Aliquoting.Specimen Processing.Medical Terminology.Laboratory Safety.Alphanumeric Typing.Qualification And Education:High School Diploma.Due to nature of job The candidate must have Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
