Behavioral Health Supportive Education and Employment Specialist

Position: Behavioral Health Supportive Education and Employment Specialist (Regular) Job Summary Energetic and organized professionals who can assist adults with intellectual, developmental disabilities, mental health, or substance use challenges to secure and retain employment. The role involves collaborating with a clinical team, preparing clients for the workforce, developing job placements, and providing ongoing support to ensure job retention. Responsibilities Participate in the clinical team and collaborate with Employment Support Professionals in developing individualized employment plans. Guide clients through decisions about disclosing disabilities to employers and support self‑advocacy. Conduct vocational assessments, develop employment goals, and create job‑support plans. Identify employment interests and match clients with private and public employers. Provide job development, training, technical assistance, and transportation support. Offer on‑site job coaching and follow‑up support to promote client success and employer satisfaction. Maintain accurate, confidential documentation for billing, assessment, and clinical reporting. Conduct observations of clients across settings to ensure compliance with policies and program standards. Assist clients in understanding benefits and how employment may affect them. Maintain compliance with IPRS regulations, MHDDSAS guidelines, and Quality Assurance audits. Serve as liaison between employers and employees to meet mutual needs. Build and maintain relationships with supervising agencies, referral partners, and community resources. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a human services field preferred. At least 1 year of experience working with individuals who have intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental health, or substance abuse challenges. Minimum of 2 years of experience in recruiting and job placement or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation if the role requires client transportation. Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background check, and credential verification. Knowledge of disability and privacy laws and ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff. Strong customer service, organizational, and time‑management skills.
