Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Profession: RN - Labor & Delivery Specialty: RN Registered / Licensed - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7am - 7:30pm) Experience: Less than 1 year License: RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT (Multi-state Compact) Certifications: - BLS - Basic Life Support - NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Must-Have: - Completion of accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. RNs practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The practice is supported through a shared governance model, and the framework for practice is steered by evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All Clinical Nurses are licensed and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined in the Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. As a member of the patient services team, individuals uphold the voice of the patient and system policies. They support service excellence goals while providing patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. The Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) is performed using evidence-based practice. Care is individualized and coordinated through effective partnerships. RNs continuously communicate with the patient and significant others, adapting service delivery to reflect cultural diversity. Teamwork is crucial in delivering and documenting safe, quality patient care. RNs demonstrate collaboration through diverse communication methods and timely documentation. They support performance improvement initiatives and participate in research to promote safe patient care. RNs complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. They serve as preceptors or mentors for other professional nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-based practice and research are promoted by participating in data collection and posing relevant clinical questions. RNs use appropriate resources and evidence to address practice questions. They proactively plan for patient care across the continuum while supporting efficient use of resources. Participation in developing protocols and procedures is encouraged for achieving best practice outcomes. Compliance with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct is mandatory. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. RNs are expected to possess strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Time management skills and the ability to respond to emergencies in a composed manner are also required.
