Data Visualization Engineer

Data Visualization Engineer Location: Huntsville, AL As a Data Visualization Engineer at Chenega MIOS, you will transform complex datasets into clear, actionable visual narratives and develop interactive dashboards and visual tools primarily using Foundry, Power BI, or Gaberiel Nimbus to help stakeholders uncover insights, drive decisions, and communicate the value of data. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in support of cybersecurity, risk management, and mission performance tracking. Create, maintain, and revise existing data visualizations, including interactive dashboards, reports, graphs, and graphics. Troubleshoot and debug front‑ and back‑end data ingestion processes. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and clients to define, design and deploy solutions and enhancements that meet organizational and end‑user needs. Design data visualizations that analyze data from internal and external sources. Research, evaluate, and implement new tools, models, and processes to optimize efficiency, reliability, and usability of visualizations. Collaborate with data engineers and cybersecurity analysts to extract and normalize data from multiple sources, including eMASS, VRO, and network sensors. Enable real‑time situational awareness through role‑based visualizations supporting leadership decision‑making and operational readiness. Optimize dashboard performance and usability across platforms and security domains. Maintain familiarity with other visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI) as required for integration or cross‑functional needs. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, IT, or business‑related programs. 5+ years of Power BI development experience in dashboard creation, data visualization, and reporting. Must have an active Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS with SCI eligibility. Preferred Qualifications Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM. 3+ years’ experience supporting DoD or federal programs. MS Power BI Certification. Data Analytics Certifications. 3+ years’ experience with Vantage or Gaberiel Nimbus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proven expertise in Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools; Foundry Contour or Quiver experience a plus. Strong knowledge of DAX, SQL, or equivalent query languages. Experience with structured and semi‑structured data (JSON, XML). Knowledge of cybersecurity and risk management metrics preferred. Experience in cloud infrastructures. High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle) and hybrid cloud environments. Experience extracting, transforming, structuring data for analytics and reporting. Strong creative and visual storytelling skills with design and usability focus. Use expert knowledge of visualization tools to deliver information that enables quick understanding, better questioning, and actionable insights. Knowledge and experience with data analysis, data technical expertise in data management, engineering, and science. Skillful time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and within a team; encouraging collaboration and innovation. Ability to meet minimum clearance requirements. Capability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Travel up to 10%.
