Position Overview

The  Microvellum Engineer is responsible for translating architectural drawings, design intent, and project specifications into  accurate, production-ready shop drawings and CNC-ready data using Microvellum.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are  engineered efficiently, manufactured accurately, and installed successfully . The ideal candidate understands both  design and production workflows and can bridge the gap between the office, shop, and field.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Shop Drawings

• Produce detailed  shop drawings from architectural plans and project specifications
• Interpret design intent and resolve constructability issues
• Ensure drawings meet company standards, field conditions, and client expectations
• Coordinate with Project Managers for submittal packages

Microvellum Programming

• Create and modify  Microvellum assemblies, libraries, and standards
• Generate  cut lists, material reports, and CNC data
• Optimize designs for efficient production and material usage
• Maintain and improve company-wide Microvellum standards

Production Coordination

• Work closely with production team to ensure drawings are  buildable and efficient
• Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues
• Support implementation of new products, materials, and hardware

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with Project Managers and Coordinators on:
• • Submittals and revisions
  • RFIs and field adjustments
• Incorporate redlines and approvals into final production drawings

Quality Control

• Verify accuracy of dimensions, materials, and hardware selections
• Ensure consistency between:
• • Shop drawings
  • CNC output
  • Field installation requirements

Qualifications

Required:

• 2+ years of experience in  millwork engineering, drafting, or cabinet design
• Proficiency in Microvellum
• Strong understanding of  millwork construction methods and materials
• Ability to read and interpret  architectural and shop drawings

Preferred:

• Experience with CNC manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of:
• • AWI standards
  • Veneers, laminates, hardwoods, and hardware systems
• Familiarity with AutoCAD  
• Experience in commercial millwork

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong communication between office, shop, and field teams
• Process-driven with a focus on efficiency and accuracy

Compensation & Benefits (Typical Range)

• Salary: $65,000 – $95,000+ (based on experience)
