Executive Search Associates is partnering with UnityPoint Health - Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa , to identify a Hospitalist who is looking for something different than the typical inpatient model.

This is a role built around sustainability, not just volume.

Description

The Hospitalist will provide inpatient care across med/surg and ICU, managing admissions, rounding, and coordinating care.

Shifts are structured as 12-hour blocks, but the model is built around efficiency rather than physical presence. Physicians typically complete rounding and core responsibilities early and remain available remotely as needed.

This is a flexible, physician-driven environment where scheduling is largely self-managed within the team.

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient census across med/surg and ICU
• Perform daily rounding, admissions, and discharges
• Respond to codes and in-house emergencies as needed
• Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians across departments
• Coordinate consults and transfers with system support when appropriate
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic
• Participate in medical staff meetings and limited administrative duties

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine, or strong Family Medicine background with inpatient experience
• Ability to obtain an unrestricted Iowa license
• Comfort practicing independently in a rural setting
• Experience with ICU-level care or willingness to be trained in vent management
• Strong clinical judgment and adaptability
