Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Brownwood, Texas

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Brownwood, Texas
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,820–$1,910
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Department: Emergency Department
• Schedule: Four 12-hour shifts per week; 36 hours per week may be considered
• Shift: Mid shift, approximately 2:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m.
• Weekend Commitment: Six weekend shifts per six-week schedule, including Saturdays and/or Sundays
• Call: One on-call shift per six-week schedule
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Department Volume: Approximately 70 patient visits per day
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients

Emergency Room Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand and eligibility to practice in Texas
• At least two years of recent Emergency Department (ED) or Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
• Strong competency in emergency nursing assessment, triage, prioritization, and care coordination
• Experience caring for a diverse patient population in a combined adult and pediatric emergency setting
• Ability to complete required credentialing and clinical documentation within established timeframes
• Experience with Altera or similar electronic health record systems preferred

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide timely, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan
• Perform rapid assessments, triage patients, recognize changes in condition, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, emergency medications, and procedural sedation under established protocols
• Care for patients experiencing trauma, stroke symptoms, cardiac emergencies, respiratory conditions, sepsis, overdose, psychiatric crises, and multisystem illness
• Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, BiPAP/CPAP, arterial line monitoring, central line care, chest tube management, and IV vasopressors
• Perform and interpret emergency-focused assessments, including 12-lead ECG acquisition and dysrhythmia recognition
• Support airway management, intubation, seizure care, splinting, wound care, and other emergency procedures within scope of practice
• Maintain accurate documentation, communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, and promote patient safety throughout the care experience
