RN Emergency Department

Job Summary:

The Level 3 Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care in a fast-paced, high-volume adult emergency department within a Level I trauma center. The nurse is responsible for managing diverse patient populations, including boarder patients, delivering critical care, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. This role requires at least two years of ER and telemetry experience, along with specialized certifications and the ability to work rotating shifts without on-call duties. Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a busy emergency department setting.
• Manage and assess patients requiring telemetry monitoring and emergency interventions.
• Assist with boarder patients to ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient status and interventions.
• Adhere to hospital protocols and emergency department policies to ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Participate in ongoing training and maintain certifications required for emergency nursing.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State only.
• Minimum of two years of experience in Emergency Room nursing.
• Minimum of two years telemetry experience.
• Previous travel ER experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Level I trauma center or similarly high-acuity emergency department.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as EPIC in emergency settings.

Special Considerations:

• Rotating shifts including day, evening, and night shifts.
• Floating to different units as needed, including weekends and holidays.
• No on-call responsibilities required for the 48 hours per week schedule.
• ER does not support first-time travelers.

Scheduling:

• 48 hours per week with rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
• Shift assignments based on unit needs, including floating and coverage during weekends and holidays.
