A confidential national litigation law firm is seeking a California-licensed associate attorney with 2 to 6 years of litigation experience to join its Los Angeles office, focusing on insurance defense matters involving general liability and construction defect. This role offers meaningful ownership of litigated files, frequent advocacy and writing opportunities, and hands-on development through all phases of litigation.

THE ROLE

- Manage a caseload of litigated general liability and construction defect matters

- Draft and respond to pleadings, written discovery, and subpoenas

- Prepare for and take or defend depositions (witness preparation included)

- Research and draft dispositive motions and other key briefing

- Prepare for hearings, mediations, and trial, as needed

- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals regarding strategy and status

Location:

Los Angeles, California

Schedule:

Hybrid, in office 4 days per week

Compensation:

Base salary range: $135,000 to $165,000

REQUIREMENTS

- Active California bar admission in good standing

- 2 to 6 years of litigation experience

- Construction defect litigation experience (Los Angeles market experience preferred)

- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

- Comfort managing deadlines and driving next steps on active files

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

- Clean, error-free writing sample submitted with application materials

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

- Deposition experience (taking or defending)

- Broader insurance defense experience, including general liability, premises liability, product liability, and tort matters

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

- Billable target: 1,900 hours

- Quarterly billable bonus: up to $5,000 per quarter (up to $20,000 annually)
