Clinical Informaticist

The Clinical Informaticist partners with clinical, administrative and analytics leadership to develop and implement a methodology and strategic plan for clinical informatics in the organization. The partnership will entail collaboration with clinicians, health administrative leaders and IT teams. Following the strategic plan, the Clinical Informaticist supports stakeholders in the procurement, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IT products. In addition, the Clinical Informaticist integrates knowledge of clinical workflows with an understanding of data and analytics to help identify and develop new solutions to existing healthcare problems. Participation in multi-functional teams involving technical and clinical experts to anticipate, identify, and help resolve challenges faced by the organization is essential.

Responsibilities include building relationships and supporting current IT products, participating in the new product request process, analyzing current business processes, and working on analytics. The Clinical Informaticist also facilitates clinical insights and actions to improve patient outcomes and reviews IT usage, services, technology, and department specific projects to assist in identification of future IT needs.

Staff requirements include maintaining regular attendance, compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, and participation in projects as needed. Other related functions include knowledge of current healthcare trends and developments and associated business needs in the clinical information technologies, knowledge of the deployment and usage of clinical information technologies and electronic medical record technologies, and maintaining current knowledge of HIPAA, privacy and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or relevant related clinical or IT field, or an associate's degree plus three years' experience in a related area of study. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also required, along with a current license in the area of specialty by the Department of Health (i.e. RN, RRT, PT, etc.). Two years of clinical analytics experience in an acute care or ambulatory patient setting is required.
