Job TitleReports to: Paint Crew SupervisorSupervises: NoneTerm of Employment: 12 monthsSalary: Painter I-59 Painter II-69FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-ExemptQualifications:Graduation from high school or equivalencyConsiderable experience in painting and building maintenanceValid North Carolina driver's licenseEssential Job Functions:Performs skilled and semi-skilled painting tasks in the removal of existing paint, preparation of surfaces to be painted, and the application of a variety of surface materials with either brush or rollerErects, moves and works from scaffolds and laddersMixes and matches paints and stains by using proper pigments, base and thinnerPrepares surfaces to be painted by use of power cleaning equipment, scrapers, sandpaper, sanding machines, etc.Applies paints, stains, sealers, varnishes, fillers, and other coating materials to interior and exterior of buildings, facilities, and equipmentPatches plaster and sheetrock by using fillers, tape, spackling compound, patching plasters, etc.Cleans and maintains equipment tools and suppliesRefinishes gym and stage floorsStripes parking lot linesMoves furniture and equipment within schoolsTransports furniture and equipment to schoolsPerforms courier duties when necessaryAssists in custodial duties when requestedMows grass, trims shrubbery, and other grounds maintenance dutiesDrives dump truck, delivers, and spreads soil and gravel materialsCuts and removes dead or fallen trees from school facilitiesAssists in the delivery of books and other school materialsAssists other crews as neededResponds to after hour emergencies as requestedPerforms other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorPhysical and Cognitive Requirements:The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Moore County Schools.Work in this classification is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Must be able to:walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouchwork in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards and atmospheric conditionsuse visual acuity required for depth perception and color perceptionvisually inspect small defects and/or small partsuse a variety of measuring devicesassemble or fabricate parts at or within arm's lengthoperate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment and toolsdetermine the accuracy and thoroughness of workobserve general surroundings and activitieshear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levelsuse communication by means of spoken word to express or exchange ideassafely work in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized personal protective equipment
