Pricing Actuary

Our client is seeking a Senior Pricing Actuary to lead ratemaking, pricing strategy, and rating system development for a growing non‑admitted commercial casualty portfolio. This role is ideal for an actuary who thrives at the intersection of technical pricing, coding, and underwriting enablement. You will own the full lifecycle of pricing architecture—from building rate frameworks and conducting baseline reviews to developing automated rating engines that replace legacy spreadsheets. This position is highly technical, fast‑moving, and central to modernizing how pricing is executed across the organization. Key Responsibilities Lead ratemaking and rate maintenance across long‑tail non‑admitted casualty lines (GL, Excess Casualty, Umbrella). Build, program, and maintain proprietary rating tools and pricing engines using Python . Use SQL to monitor rate adequacy, analyze execution rates, and generate monthly pricing performance metrics. Develop and deploy updates to rating algorithms, hazard factors, tiering matrices, and underwriting calculators. Ensure underwriting teams operate on consistent, optimized, and fully aligned pricing platforms. Rapidly adjust pricing structures to reflect market conditions, including tort trends, inflation, and reinsurance cost shifts. Required Skills & Experience 8+ years of actuarial experience in P&C ratemaking, pricing, or rating system development. Strong background in non‑admitted/E&S casualty highly preferred. Advanced proficiency in Python (rating logic, APIs, model frameworks) and SQL (data queries, rate monitoring). ACAS required; FCAS preferred. Deep knowledge of experience/exposure rating, loss development, trending, and ILFs. Proven success implementing rate changes and deploying rating tools into underwriting workflows.
