Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level II trauma center's General Surgery unit requiring 2 years of OR trauma experience and recent travel assignment history.

Details

• General Surgery department in a Level II trauma center hospital with 80 ER beds and 800 inpatient beds
• Serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• 4x10 shift schedule including weekends (Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun 0645-1715)
• No call requirements
• May be required to float to other departments based on competency level
• EPIC EMR charting system used, with training provided during orientation or test-out option available

Requirements

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• License required if applicable
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in OR and trauma settings required
• Recent travel experience required, including at least one 13-week travel assignment within the past year
• CMP blood panel completion required prior to start

Additional Information

• Maintain sterility of the surgical field and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Supply the operating room with proper equipment and instrumentation for each surgery
• Perform scrub duties including passing instruments, applying electrocautery, cutting suture material, and connecting drains
• Prepare instrumentation and equipment for subsequent cases after procedure completion
• Assist with room turnover to support efficient surgical workflow
• Work in a fast-paced environment serving a 500-mile radius with trauma and stroke accreditation
• Minimum of 2 major holidays coverage required
• May be required to work one additional pick-up shift during the schedule period
• Facility may cancel shifts with 48 hours notice for low census per 13-week contract
• Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• A 13-week break required between contracts for returning employees or travelers
