Duneland School Corporation GroundskeeperA Duneland School Corporation groundskeeper is required to clean, maintain and groom all corporation properties in a safe and lawful manner. This position has a highly responsible role in providing buildings and grounds services and dealing with students and staff on a regular basis. All groundskeepers interact with individuals both inside and out of the corporation and therefore, must have the ability to present a professional and organized image at all times. Starting hourly rate: $18.30Principal Responsibilities and Duties:Respond to requests of information and services in a prompt, efficient and friendly manner.Provide exceptional level of customer service to all students, community members, teachers, co-workers and other staff members.Observe safety and security proceduresUses equipment and materials properlyAll groundskeepers are required to attend in-service trainingAll groundskeepers must accept delegated authorityAll groundskeepers must cut, trim and edge lawnsProvide property clean upGroundskeepers must remove all snow from all walkways and parking areas throughout Duneland propertiesConduct minor asphalt repairsPlanting, grooming and removal of trees, bushes and landscaping as assigned by supervisorFencing repairBuildings and Grounds equipment maintenance and minor repairOccasionally assist in all services provided throughout Duneland School CorporationDaily delivery of bulk food products and supplies to each of the Duneland School Corporation satellite schoolsThese deliveries must be completed in a very timely mannerMay assist Food Service Department in product stocking and storageMaintains and cleans equipment to meet local, state and federal standardsCompletes truck order deliveriesAssists in the supervision of summertime staffAssists with mail delivery as neededPerform all other duties as assigned by an immediate supervisorKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationships both inside and outside the corporationAbility to learn new skills quickly and assimilate into daily workAbility to maintain high level of confidentiality both inside and outside the corporationAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to multi-task with attention to detailProficiency in the use of all Buildings and Grounds equipmentDemonstrated organizational and time management skillsRecognize, analyze and offer solutions to problem situations related to daily workAbility to remain calm and professional during times of high stressAbility to operate office computers, faxes and printersSpecial Requirements:Work Environment: Frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments.Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all buildings and grounds equipment. A basic knowledge of operations concerning computers, printers, telephone systems, and copiers is required.Hours: This position is typically expected to work an average of 8 hours per day. Summer hours will be adjusted as per the Superintendent to assure adequate coverage throughout the summer period. Evening, weekend and holiday activities will be scheduled as necessary.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by all Duneland School Corporation groundskeepers to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.
