Descriptio nThe Optometrist is responsible for examining the eyes and other parts of the visual system. They also diagnose and treat visual problems and manage diseases, injuries, and other disorders of the eyes. They conduct eye examinations, prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses as needed. The Optometrist ensures that the primary goal of efficiently providing vision care services that exceed customer expectations is achieved, while improving clinical and financial operations nsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job function s.Perform comprehensive eye and vision test s.Diagnose defects of the eye, such as myopia, astigmatism, and glaucom a.Provide personalized temporary and permanent solutions to sight issues based on each patient’s specific case and medical histor y.Prescribe medications, eyeglasses and contact lense s.Advise patients on proper eye care technique s.Promote eye and general health by evaluating and counseling patient s.Keep updated and accurate medical records for all patient s.Book next appointments in cases where re-examination is require d.Train patients on how to use and maintain their contact lense s.Refer eye doctors and ophthalmologists when patients need to undergo a surgery or in cases of severe eye injurie s.Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per polic y.Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policie s.Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices )Stay current with changes in the healthcare environment and act accordingly in the best interest of the Compan y.Other duties as assigned by managemen t.Requireme ntsDoctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and active California license in good stand ing.Excellent communication and interpersonal ski lls.In-depth understanding of eye conditions and vision defe cts.Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonome ter.The ability to explain medical terms simply and cal mly.Des i plus.Knowledge of Care Cloud EMR.Certificates/Licenses/Registra tionsCurrent, unrestricted California Optometrist Lic ense.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Ta lentsApplied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and condit ions.Strong leadership skills and ability to coach, teach, and ins pire.Team player and individual contributor coupled with excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to provide guidance to less experienced team mem bers.Computer proficiency including knowledge of Word, Excel and use of standard office equip ment.Effective oral and written communications skills with internal and external customers at all le vels.Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, staff, vendors, or other members of the business commu nity.Ability to draw valid conclusions, apply sound judgment in making decisions, and to make decisions under pres sure.Ability to direct the work of others and work as a Team Leader and Coach in attainment of g oals.Ability to interpret and apply policies and proced ures.Ability to address others professionally and respectfully by actions, words and d eeds.Detail oriented, organized, process focused, problem solver, self-motivated, proactive, customer service foc used.Display independent judgment by willingness to make timely and accurate decisions based on available information that is sometimes vague or limited in na ture.Ability to multitask effectively and work in a fast paced and sometimes ambiguous environment, without compromising quality of work.Ability to prioritize tasks and projects with limited direction, while understanding and contributing to the success of the Com nmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.This is primarily a medical office classification and may require frequent visits and driving to medical offices in the designated region, which requires the ability to drive an automobile. Temperature conditions are controlled with limited direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. There is regular exposure to doctors, patients, staff, and ven dors.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, keyboard, to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, see, talk and hear. The employee will frequently lift and/or carry reports, records and other materials that typically weigh less than 20 pounds.
