Dental Assistant

A full time, non-exempt position responsible for assisting the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients of the center. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. This role will be working the special programs and floating to other clinics as needed.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED certificate required. Completion of accredited course in dental assisting preferred. The ability to work with persons from a wide diversity of social, ethnic and economic backgrounds is necessary. The Dental Assistant must be able to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal results for the center's patient from a system of integrated primary health care.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to gain knowledge of current practice management system, electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, text paging, Internet, and Intranet.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Certified Dental Assistant preferred. Current CPR (BLS) required.

Other Applicable Requirements:

Ability to speak Spanish helpful.
