Kindergarten Teacher Seawell Elementary School – Chapel Hill, North Carolina Salary Schedule: Certified; CHCCS Salary Schedule At CHCCS, a teacher's goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience needed to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world. Essential Duties Develop lesson plans and instructional materials. Provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to the students. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media. Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss the student's progress and interpret the school program. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional growth activities. Participate in curriculum development programs, faculty committees, and sponsorship of student activities. Instruct pupils in the classroom using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize instruction time. Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment for pupils. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. Education/Experience Requirements Holds, or is eligible to hold, a North Carolina Professional Educator's license in the assigned area. Bachelor's Degree required. Prior teaching experience preferred. Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered by the board if appropriate and acceptable. Physical Requirements Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
