Certified Medication Aide (CMA)

Job Summary
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) plays a vital role in providing exceptional care to our residents by administering prescribed medications, assisting with daily living activities, and monitoring patients for medication side effects.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications according to physician orders and facility policies, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of medication administration and patient records, adhering to facility protocols and HIPAA regulations.

• Monitor patients for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, or changes in condition, reporting concerns to licensed nurses and providing compassionate care.

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, as needed, promoting independence and dignity.

• Measure and record vital signs when required, maintaining accurate records and reporting any changes or concerns to licensed nurses.

• Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning of residents, ensuring safety and comfort.

• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked medication carts and supplies, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.

• Prioritize patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.

• Follow established protocols for medication administration, infection control, and safety, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.

• Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

• Respond promptly to resident needs and emergency situations, providing compassionate and timely care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (if required by state).

• Current Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification.

• CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required by employer).

• Knowledge of medication administration procedures and safety practices, with a focus on patient-centered care.

• Ability to lift and assist residents safely, with a commitment to resident comfort and well-being.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for providing exceptional care.
