Site Safety and Health Officer

Job Responsibilities Overseeing and administering the site safety, occupational health, and industrial hygiene functions in support of DHS facility operations and maintenance (O&M) activities Ensure full compliance with applicable federal regulations, safety standards, and performance metrics Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the contractor’s safety management program and ensure all work is performed in accordance with contract requirements Develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve the site Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and overall safety management program Conduct thorough hazard analyses, identify workplace risks, and develop effective hazard mitigation and control measures Perform regular safety inspections, audits, and assessments of both contractor and subcontractor activities Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare comprehensive reports and recommend corrective actions Coordinate and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and remedial instruction as necessary to maintain a safety-first culture Maintain all required safety documentation, certifications, training records, and compliance reporting Requirements Minimum of five (5) years of continuous experience supervising or managing safety programs within general industry, construction, or facility O&M environments Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry Safety Training certification/card Demonstrated completion of at least eight (8) hours of formal safety and health‑related training annually for the past five (5) years Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, EM 385‑1‑1 requirements, and government contract compliance standards Expertise in conducting hazard analyses and developing mitigation strategies Experience implementing and administering Quality Control Programs specifically for facility operations, maintenance, or construction contracts Proven ability to manage contractor and subcontractor compliance with rigorous safety and quality requirements Excellent skills in delivering safety training and acting as the primary liaison for safety programs with federal agencies and stakeholders Ability to supervise and manage comprehensive safety programs within general industry or construction environments #J-18808-Ljbffr Jobtailor
