Interior Designer
Position Overview
The Interior Designer will support LBVAHCS by turning clinical, operational, and facility requirements into functional, compliant, and patient-centered interior environments. This role will help the VA avoid disruption during planning, activation, furniture coordination, and installation by producing accurate design documents, coordinating stakeholders early, and validating field conditions before work moves forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop space plans, finish selections, furniture layouts, and FF&E documentation that support VA healthcare operations
- Prepare AutoCAD drawings, SOWs, IGCEs, schedules, procurement packages, and installation plans
- Coordinate with VA staff, end users, vendors, contractors, and project teams to align design decisions with operational needs
- Conduct field verification, site reviews, installation inspections, and punch list follow-up
- Support activation planning, furniture installation, signage/artwork coordination, and project closeout documentation
- Apply VA TIL, ABAAS, NFPA, OSHA, ICC, and healthcare design standards
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Interior Design or related field
- Experience supporting healthcare, medical center, or institutional facility design projects
- Experience preparing design, procurement, and activation documentation
Required Skills
- AutoCAD, FF&E planning, space planning, and design documentation
- Strong coordination with clinical users, facility teams, vendors, and project stakeholders
- Knowledge of healthcare facility standards, accessibility, safety, and code compliance
Certification Requirement
- NCIDQ preferred
Clearance Requirement
- VA background investigation / Public Trust
