GROCERY/RELIEF ASST DEPT LEADER

Support the day-to-day functions of Grocery operations and assist in directing and supervising all functions, duties and activities for the department. Responsibilities Assist in directing and supervising all functions, duties and activities for the department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Grocery operations. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor and control established quality assurance standards. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure a positive customer experience. Minimum Qualifications Effective communication skills. Knowledge of basic math: counting, addition, and subtraction. Ability to handle stressful situations. Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position. Must be 18 years of age or older. Desired Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Management experience. Grocery experience. Retail experience. Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing. Adherence to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines. Ability to create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products sold within the department and store. Knowledge of products sold within the department and ability to respond to questions and make suggestions. Inform customers of grocery specials and understand the store\'s layout. Implement the department\'s period promotional plan and stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. Monitor and control department expenses and maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note discrepancies as needed. Observe scheduled shift operating hours and demonstrate creative merchandising. Prepare products in assigned sections according to company policy and maintain workload to meet production deadlines. Integrate key retailing work processes into daily department operations. Ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, cash control, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, and engagement rules. Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and identifying unsafe conditions; notify store management. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items in need of repair. Notify management of customer or employee accidents, report safety risks or illegal activity such as robbery, theft or fraud.
