Graduate Research Assistant, NOAA Sea Grant

Overview The Graduate Research Assistant will support the development of a cost-effective and scalable protected species monitoring plan for an offshore finfish net pen. The student will conduct vessel-based visual surveys and deploy/maintain passive acoustic monitoring devices to assess effects on protected species. Responsibilities Analyze visual and acoustic data Deploy, retrieve, and maintain passive acoustic monitoring devices Conduct vessel-based visual surveys for protected species Assist with the preparation of scientific publications, conference presentations, and project reports Assist faculty with training materials and protected species monitoring protocols for farm staff Other duties as assigned Qualifications Currently admitted to the graduate degree program in the Marine Mammal Program at NCF; Academic performance at an advanced level, primarily in the Master’s program; Must be in good standing in all current classes. At least 1 year of research experience; provide evidence of prior scientific productivity, including but not limited to co-authorship on manuscripts, attendance of scientific conferences, and contribution to laboratory or field work, or experience working with marine animals. #J-18808-Ljbffr New College of Florida
