Adjunct Instructor

Job Description The Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a pool of qualified adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate mathematics courses on a part-time, semester-by-semester basis. Appointments are made as departmental instructional needs arise and are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and curriculum requirements. Required Qualifications The successful candidate will have: A master's degree in mathematics or a related discipline by date of hire, with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate courses in mathematics. Experience teaching college-level mathematics courses. Effective communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching college-level courses as the primary instructor. Documented outstanding effectiveness teaching in a curriculum, like that offered by Virginia Tech Mathematics Department, designed to serve a large, diverse group of university students in engineering and the sciences. -Willingness and ability to teach calculus, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, or differential equations. Pay Band 4 Overtime Status Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime Appointment Type Restricted Salary Information $8,000 for each 3-credit course and $10,000 for each 4-credit course Hours per week 29 (average) Review Date Open Until Filled Additional Information The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
