Salary: Starting salary will be in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Utah Education Association Staff Organization (UEASO) and the UEA.
Starting Range: $78,246 – $107,198
Benefits: Generous benefit package (medical, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave)

Organization and Position Summary:
The Utah Education Association (UEA) is the largest public education employee association in Utah, representing about 18,000 active classroom teachers, retired educators, administrators, licensed education-related service providers and campus student organizations. Local affiliates of the Utah Education Association participate in a Unified Services (UniServ) Program through the National Education Association. The Eastern Utah “UniServ” (or regional unit) represents local affiliates and UEA members in the following school districts located east of the Wasatch Front: Daggett, Duchesne, Morgan, North Summit, Park City, South Summit, Uintah, Wasatch; as well as Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. This UniServ represents approximately 1,000 licensed personnel in local units that range in membership numbers from 2 to 223 members. The Eastern Utah Regional Director supports the membership, organizing, advocacy, political action and other member driven initiatives of the UniServ and UEA. 

This position is located at the UEA headquarters building in Murray, UT, with flexibility for virtual/hybrid work. Extensive in-state travel to local units is required on a regular basis and it is frequently necessary to work extended hours and some Saturdays.  

UEA Regional Directors embody and promote the UEA’s core values to advance the Association’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.

Essential Functions:

• Provide leadership development, training, and organizational support to local association leaders and worksite representatives in membership recruitment and retention, leadership development, grievance processes, and other organizational priorities.
• Support collective bargaining and member advocacy by consulting with local teams during negotiations, representing members in grievances and employment-related matters, and assisting leaders in resolving workplace issues.
• Partner with local leaders to advance association and political action goals, including member engagement, candidate recommendation and support processes, advocacy efforts, and strategic organizing initiatives.
• Facilitate communication, governance, and operational effectiveness by attending and supporting UniServ council, executive board, and local association meetings; reporting on organizational business matters; and assisting with budget development and administration.
• Collaborate with UEA leadership, staff, and local associations to deliver professional development, implement organizational priorities, supervise assigned support staff functions, and participate in required meetings, training, and statewide initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Eastern Utah UniServ Council and the UEA.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or at least 3 years’ equivalent experience.
• Reliable transportation for rural and frequent in-state travel and potential other out-of-state travel. 
• Legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in labor union work – local/state elected, or appointed position or staff experience; OR experience as a licensed public school educator.
• Knowledge of the political process as it relates to educators and public education;
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment;
• Demonstrated experience building relationships with members and mobilizing them to participate in advocacy, organizing, leadership development, or collective action within a member-driven organization;
• Proven communication skills, written and oral, including competence in public relations matters as well as navigating critical conversations;
• Ability to travel to varying work locations on a regular basis;
• Able to work outside of regular office hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

• Proficient technology skills including but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, and Teams);
