Position Title: Line Cook (Experienced)

Reports to: Sous Chef/Executive Chef

Brief Job Summary:

Germantown Cricket Club is looking to hire Experience Line Cooks to join our team. Only apply if you have 1+ year of verifiable experience as a Line Cook.

A line cook plates dishes and completes basic food prepping and cleaning tasks for the restaurant/club. Their main duties may include preparing and cooking food for a specific station, banquets, special events, snack bar or any other outlet, cleaning up prep areas, ensuring the kitchen is stocked and any other task as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous Chefs

Principal Responsibilities:

Line Cooks are in charge of preparing food and plating dishes according to the Executive Chef's menu specification, recipes and direction. Line cooks will be assigned to specific areas and tasks (banquet, prep, line, snack shop...) as dictated by management and the requirements of the club/restaurant. Duties include preparing food, maintaining sanitation and performing any and all tasks as assigned.

Germantown Cricket Club is actively searching for experienced line cooks to join our talented team to help prepare excellent quality meals for our members and guests. In this position, your principal goal will be to prepare high-quality food that meets our standards. You will be responsible for setting up the prep station, stocking inventory and maintaining sanitation standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and multi-tasking skills and will ultimately play an essential role in building member satisfaction.

The line cook prepares food using recipes and menu items as created by the Executive Chef and helps keep the kitchen running smoothly. Knives skills, knowledge of temperatures and able to complete items based on recipes are critical to this position. Some of their key duties and responsibilities include:

• Assisting with setting up kitchen stations and keeping them well stocked with food and supplies
• Preparing food including cleaning, cutting, cooking and preparing ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and food for banquets or special events.
• Plating prepared foods based on Executive or Sous Chef's guidance
• Working with servers, runners and expo to ensure orders are completed according to specifications and in as timely a manner as possible
• Washing and cleaning the kitchen, cooking utensils, cooking equipment and surfaces as needed.
• Working in and maintaining a safe and sanitary working environment.
• Ensures the preparation station and kitchen are set up and stocked before opening.
• Prepare simple components of each dish on the menu by chopping vegetables, cutting meat and fish, preparing sauces and following exact recipes.
• Reports to the Executive Chef and follows instructions exactly.
• Helps make sure food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards.
• Clean prep areas and takes care of leftovers in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Stocks inventory and supplies. Communicates any needs to Sous or Executive Chef.
• Cook menu items with support of Sous/Executive Chef

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Training or equivalent experience in the Culinary Arts or related field
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
• In-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team.

Equipment Used:

Commercial kitchen equipment including but not limited to: cleaning equipment, commercial dish machines, pasta maker, standing mixer, emersion blender, combi-ovens, convection ovens, deep fat fryers, grill, broiler, pasta cooker, food processor, knives, ect.

Working Environment:

Able to work with little supervision. Long periods of standing, sitting, bending, crouching, reaching. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

Work in non-temperature controlled environments. Must be able to work around time requirements required at a private club environment.

Communication Requirements:

Active listening skills and ability to articulate information both verbally and in writing. Communication skills to effectively develop member/customer relationships.

Physical Requirements:

Normal speech, hearing and vision.

Must be able to lift 50lbs or more

Safety:

Follow all Germantown Cricket Club safety programs, safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Wear, use and enforce all GCC personal protection equipment (PPE) as needed on specific jobs and tasks.

Beware of chemical safety and be familiar with all pertinent Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of chemicals which are used in the workplace.

Follow all GCC safety rules including all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to work at GCC.
