Electronic PrePress Operator

About the Opportunity Provide EPP support to the Prepress Department by preparing graphic files for production. Responsibilities Demonstrates commitment to safety and performs job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates commitment to quality and performs job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines. Ensures clear accountability and understands responsibilities related to product safety, legality, and quality systems. Interprets job ticket information to determine quantity, special work instructions, and any other special customer requirements. Creates and manipulates MAC & PC files with several graphic design programs. Works with Macintosh platforms utilizing Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat PDF files. Pre‑flights documents according to printing standards and makes necessary adjustments to all types of files for print and digital reproduction. Interacts with customer service, external customers, and other business leaders regarding job status and problem‑solving scenarios. Functions in a highly technical, team environment under high stress, tight deadlines and interruptions. Learns new equipment and procedures quickly and teaches this knowledge to others. Applies knowledge of imposition, color separation, and trapping for press. Coordinates Press Oks and works with press operators to manage projects without guidance. Creates mylar dieline layouts. Understands department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system, and job reporting requirements. Actively participates in Lean manufacturing initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Education & Certification High School diploma or equivalent required. Formal post‑secondary graphic communications training in the use of computer software used in Electronic Prepress. Experience Minimum of two years’ experience in the Graphics trade, with offset and/or flexographic printing experience. Skills & Abilities Safety‑sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner. Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business. Software knowledge of Artwork Systems – Nexus Edit, Insight, Power Stepper and/or Esko Artwork (Backstage/DeskPack considered an asset). Experience with Macintosh platform utilizing Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign files. Ability to interact with external customers to solve graphics problems and troubleshoot art files. Demonstrates skill in application of separating and stepping electronic art. Ability to work effectively in teams and in a production‑based environment with moving equipment and people. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles.
