Phlebotomist Group Lead

Job Overview Phlebotomist Group Lead – Reno, NV. Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Requires a state phlebotomy license (Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, NV). Pay range: $28.80+ per hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. Responsibilities Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams. Administer oral solutions according to established training. Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or the directory of services. Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration, test orders, and managing standing orders. Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information. Data entry and processing of specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required. Perform clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answering phones when needed. Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures; ensure staff follow instructions. Verify patient demographic info and signatures; ensure tubes are labeled correctly. Assist with compiling and submitting monthly statistics and data. Maintain phlebotomy logs, temperature logs and other required logs on time. Complete required training courses and stay current with phlebotomy techniques. Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or outside normal shift. Participate in special projects and teams. Stay up-to-date on company communications and assist in distributing technical information. Perform point-of-care (POC) testing where needed and complete competency evaluations per SOP. Act as mentor and resource for new employees, assisting with transition into the work environment. Assist with periodic inventory counts and schedule preparation for assigned workgroup or PSCs. Communicate professionally with clients to resolve or refer issues, document problems, and report critical issues. Ensure safety precautions, wearing lab coat, gloves and face shield as required. Assist supervisors with implementing SOPs and distributing technical information. Maintain facilities neat, clean and in good repair; report required repairs. Stay ready to act as coach, mentor, instructor, and resource for new employees, and as point of contact on-site. Provide onboarding services to new clients. Partner with supervisor to assist transition for new offices for PSCs and IOPs. Lead one or more PSRs on site if required. Support patient inquiries from website, office or managed care as needed. Support the Problem Resolution Line and may be called to field for patient recollection. Provide input on performance evaluations of PSRs. Qualifications Seven years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Keyboard and data entry experience. Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime. Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record, if applicable. Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations and cover PSC/mobile/Long-Term Care/In-Office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice. Preferred Experience Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred. Minimum five years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred. Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred. Physical And Mental Requirements Lifting light to moderately heavy objects (1‑15 lbs frequently; 16‑25 lbs occasionally; 26‑40 lbs seldom; >41 lbs not to be lifted without assistance). Ability to sit or stand for long periods; requires eye and hand coordination. Perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently. Position requires travel. Extensive use of phone and PC. Fine dexterity with hands and steadiness. Walking, talking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting. Make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required). Languages English (Required). Licenses and Certifications Phlebotomy certification required in certain states (e.g., California, Nevada, Washington and Louisiana). Preferred if available. Work Requirements Travel required.
