Job Description
Adelphi is seeking a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to implement speech-language therapy services under the supervision and direction of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA will provide individual and small-group interventions to students with communication needs involving articulation, language, fluency, voice, oral-motor development, auditory processing, augmentative communication, and related areas.

•One to two years of related experience preferred or required based on the assignment
•An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered where permitted
•Valid Colorado driver's license
•Knowledge of basic human communication and the effects of communication disorders
•Knowledge of articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, oral-motor, auditory processing, and related communication needs
•Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication systems and devices
•Knowledge of students with disabilities and school-based special education services
•Ability to follow treatment plans and clinical directions established by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist
•Strong oral, written, interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect student information
•Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow instructions, use time efficiently, and respond appropriately to supervisory direction
•Ability to work cooperatively with students, families, teachers, administrators, related service providers, and individuals from diverse backgrounds
•Bilingual communication skills may be preferred or required for specific assignments
•Ability to complete Crisis Prevention Institute training and required special education training when directed by the District
•Successful completion of District-required fingerprinting and criminal background screening before beginning services Responsibilities
•Implement speech-language interventions based on treatment plans developed by the supervising licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
•Provide services to individual students and small groups in classrooms, therapy areas, and other approved school locations.
•Address assigned communication goals involving articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, oral-motor function, auditory processing, literacy-related language skills, and augmentative communication.
•Follow all instructions, treatment protocols, and supervisory requirements established by the licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
•Prepare, organize, and maintain student materials, therapy equipment, communication devices, and assigned work areas.
•Clean and maintain equipment in accordance with infection-control and safety procedures.
•Monitor student performance and communicate observations and progress to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
•Consult with the supervising SLP and educational team regarding student progress toward current IEP goals.
•Record daily documentation of student-related activities, attendance, interventions, and progress.
•Complete and maintain required files, records, service logs, Medicaid documentation, and other paperwork.
•Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist with student assessments and data collection within the SLPA's authorized scope of practice.
•Conduct speech-language screenings using protocols selected and directed by the supervising SLP.
•Assist the supervising SLP in communicating student progress and recommended follow-up strategies to parents and guardians.
•Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, training sessions, in-service activities, building meetings, and school functions as directed.
•Assist students with toileting, mobility, or approved health-related needs when required by the assignment and appropriately trained.
•Support appropriate use of augmentative and alternative communication systems and devices.
•Maintain appropriate supervision of student behavior and well-being during classroom and pull-out sessions.
•Maintain professional boundaries and refrain from completing or providing answers to student classwork or homework.
•Follow all District policies, professional standards, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and instructions of the supervising SLP.
•Perform other duties within the authorized SLPA scope of practice.
