This senior‑level position combines CNC machining, setup, programming support, process improvement, and mentorship responsibilities in a modern manufacturing environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement. What You’ll Be Doing In this role, you will: Perform advanced setups across a variety of CNC lathes and machining equipment Load stock into workholding devices and monitor machining operations Run production jobs while maintaining quality, efficiency, and throughput goals Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment to verify compliance with print specifications Make adjustments to tooling, offsets, workholding, feeds, and speeds to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements Create and support CNC programs while communicating setup and tooling requirements to the shop floor Troubleshoot machining and process issues while identifying improvement opportunities Develop repeatable manufacturing processes and machining strategies Train, mentor, and support less experienced machinists Collaborate with programmers, quality personnel, engineers, and production leadership to improve manufacturing performance Machines, Controls & Software You’ll regularly work with: CNC Lathes CNC Milling Equipment CAM Software Precision Inspection Equipment Micrometers Calipers Gauges Manual and Automated CMM Systems GD&T-Based Inspection Processes What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 5–7 years of combined CNC setup and programming experience Experience programming and supporting CNC machining operations Strong blueprint reading skills Knowledge of G‑Code and M‑Code programming Experience using CAM software Proficiency using precision inspection equipment Strong understanding of GD&T Advanced shop math skills including geometry and trigonometry Leadership and mentoring experience Strong communication and computer skills Ability to work independently and within a team environment Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications Experience with manual and automated CMM systems Experience with FDM 3D printing Experience designing and developing workholding solutions Project management experience Experience quoting CNC machined components Multi‑axis machining experience Experience supporting manufacturing process improvements Why Machinists Like Working at Laitram Laitram invests heavily in both technology and people.
