IT Digital Transformation Business Analyst

The ideal candidate for the role of business analyst should possess a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated expertise in their ability to bridge the gap between business objectives and IT solutions, effectively analyze business process, and propose solutions to enhance operation efficiency, productivity, and profitability specifically tailored for Higher Education or Government projects.

One year with an option for a one-year extension.

Scope of Services

The Business Analyst focus will be on the IT digital transformation initiatives with the scope of services that encompass key activities crucial for driving organizational efficiency, productivity, and profitability in the digital era. They will thoroughly assess the existing IT landscape, identifying opportunities for improvement and formulate actionable strategies to propel growth and success that are aligned with the IT digital Transformation goals. They will engage in extensive research, meticulously gather, and analyze data, and collaborate closely with stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of their needs, goals, and challenges within the digital realm. They will provide comprehensive business/program requirements, develop robust business models and create detailed project plans that facilitate effective decision-making throughout the transformation journey. With a pivotal role in implementing and monitoring cutting-edge digital business processes, they will leverage theirs and SUNY's expertise to work with the transformation team to recommend appropriate technology solutions and conduct training sessions to ensure seamless adoption and integration by all affected stakeholders. Another responsibility will be to combine data analysis, process optimization, and project management acumen, to empower the committee's and executive staff to make well-informed decisions, boost operational effectiveness, and gain sustainable competitive advantages in the dynamic digital landscape.

The Business Analyst will:

  • Support the Senior Project Director and Implementation Leads with project plans, deliverables, and project artifacts
  • Maintain project library of project plans, deliverables, and project artifacts
  • Develop and maintain an integrated project schedule to track and measure progress across all three initiatives and corresponding subprojects
  • Identify areas for project improvements and efficiencies
  • Manage RACI chart and stakeholder communication
  • Gather budget data as requested and work with budget analyst
  • Conduct cost benefit analysis for software acquisitions and other procurements
  • Draft and deliver stakeholder communications on initiative progress
  • Manage risk/issue and facilitate risk/issue meetings
  • Prepare artifacts and presentations for governing bodies as defined in the Governance Management Plan
  • Collect, analyze, measure, and report on initiative and corresponding subprojects
  • Forecast estimated cost savings
  • Identify budget issues and escalate per the Governance Management Plan
  • Forecast budget allocations and estimated spend
  • Track actual project spend and work with the PMO to prepare monthly budget reports required for timely project reports to the IT Governance Committee
