UrgentVet seeks a dynamic Practice Manager to lead our practice team. About UrgentVet UrgentVet is redefining the urgent veterinary care experience by bridging the gap between general practice and emergency care. Our mission is to provide timely assistance to people and their cherished pets when they need it most. We offer after‑hours care for canine and feline patients without the additional expense of emergency clinic fees, using a cloud‑based EMR, digital x‑ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in‑house lab equipment. About the Position The Practice Manager is pivotal in the hospital team, overseeing day‑to‑day operations to ensure efficient after‑hours acute care delivery while fostering a positive work culture. In this role you will lead your team and oversee your hospital in harmony with the UrgentVet ethos, actively cultivating culture, engagement, efficiency, growth, and financial stability. Position Details Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients and uphold a "Pet‑First, Client‑First" philosophy. Community Engagement and Brand Ambassadorship: Build collaborative relationships with referring veterinarians and local businesses, serving as a prominent brand ambassador for UrgentVet within the community. Inclusive Workplace Culture: Foster a safe and inclusive work environment where diversity is celebrated and every team member feels valued. Reports to the Regional Director of Operations. Typical schedule: 40–45 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays (no overnight shifts). Work hours are 3–11 pm on weekdays and 10 am–8 pm on weekends. Qualifications and Experience Preferred background: Experience in veterinary medicine, people management, and comfort working alongside veterinarians. Emotional Intelligence and Communication: Strong emotional intelligence with empathy, effective communication, and trust building. Excellent active listening and timely follow‑up. Self‑awareness and willingness to receive feedback and improve. Skilled in de‑escalation and conflict resolution. Negotiation and persuasion skills to influence outcomes and build consensus. Leadership and Team Management: Innate leadership skills, humility, vision, and calculated risk‑taking. Confidence in decision‑making and inspiring others. Track record of reliability, confidentiality, and trustworthiness. Prior management experience, preferably in a veterinary or related field, focused on team development. Teachable mindset and strong desire to learn new concepts. Accountability for actions and outcomes with a proactive problem‑solving approach. Collaborative, inclusive team awareness and ability to motivate toward goals. Assessment and delegation skills, leveraging team strengths. Immediate course correction capability.
