Learn more about our extraordinary teams building inspiring projects in our Impact Report.Job SummaryIn this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.Major ResponsibilitiesLeads or administers work of PD&P designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawingsDevelops designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts & pipe designs with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completedPrepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluationsMonitors and checks work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economyParticipates in constructability reviewsPrepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effortCoordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documentsReviews PD&P design scope changes, as required, for project managementEndorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline useEnsures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standardsResponsibilities include the development of drawings/documents for General Arrangements and piping isometrics.Monitors work for compliance with applicable codes, project standards, discipline standards and accepted engineering/construction practices.Coordinate 3D model activities, interference reconciliation within the discipline and with other physical disciplines.Develops conceptual designs, scope book, quantity and job hour estimates and schedules during the development stage of the projects.Education and Experience RequirementsRequires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experienceRequired Knowledge and SkillsU.S. Citizenship is required.Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.Hands-on experience using a 3D piping design platform and isometric extraction (S3D preferred)Extensive knowledge & application of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 codesTotal Rewards/BenefitsFor decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of employees and beyond!
