Location: Montrose, Colorado. Sign-On Bonus: $10,000. Pay Range: $34.35–$39.00/hour. Grief is one of the most naturally painful experiences we have as humans. JOB SUMMARY: The Grief Counselor is responsible for providing counseling, education and support to bereaved clients who are coping with serious illness and/or death of a loved one through phone calls, counseling sessions and group support. This person will serve as a resource on psychosocial issues related to coping with a serious illness or grief for other staff and members of our community. The bereavement counselor will attend and facilitate summer camps and other bereavement events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree in counseling field and/or social work required. Experience: One year’s experience in counseling and grief work preferred. Licenses and Certifications: Active and unrestricted Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage/Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Colorado preferred.

Ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and consistently follow through. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully in a wide range of situations, including highly emotional or stressful interactions. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to clearly speak in front of a group. Facilitation of groups of individuals and or teams.
