Fathom Robotics provides operations, maintenance, training, and applied engineering services for uncrewed maritime systems supporting U.S. Government and commercial defense programs. We have multiple active projects across a variety of government and commercial clients and are actively fielding systems in operational environments.

Role Overview: 

Fathom Robotics is hiring an Ops and Maintenance Support Specialist for our Point Mugu Sea Range operation. This is a flexible support role: you handle the planning, paperwork, and procurement so the rest of the team can stay focused on field work and maintenance. 

The documents you draft go in front of government approvers, and the inventory you manage determines whether vessels are ready when the schedule says they need to be. 

Location:  Oxnard, CA (On-Site, Naval Base Ventura County / Point Mugu Sea Range)

Clearance: US Person Required | SECRET Eligible (Minimum)

A Day In The Life:

• Morning: finalize the brief for an upcoming on-water test event and route the approval document to the government point of contact for signature 
• Midday: order shop consumables running low and confirm the maintenance team has what it needs for the week 
• Afternoon: work last week's debrief notes into the lessons learned tracker, then confirm lodging and range access for the next event

Program Conditions:

Work is based full-time at Fathom's Point Mugu Sea Range facility in Oxnard, CA, supporting vessel and maintenance operations for active USV and AUV programs. Crunch periods around test milestones and program events will require additional availability, including early mornings or occasional weekends.

Responsibilities:

• Draft mission briefs and operational approval documents for test events and range operations, and route them for government and internal review 
• Create, update, and maintain the lessons learned process across operations, maintenance, and administrative functions, tracking corrective actions to closure 
• Procure consumables and shop materials for the operations and maintenance team, from identified need through order, receipt, and restock 
• Track inventory of tools, parts, and consumables supporting the unmanned maritime systems fleet, including check-in/check-out, cycle counts, and reorder flags 
• Maintain accountability for government-furnished equipment (GFE) and sensitive components, tracked separately from general shop inventory 
• Support administrative planning and coordination for test events and demonstrations, including scheduling, travel, range access, and visitor coordination 
• Support general shop and facility upkeep as needed

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in operations support, military administration, logistics, or program coordination, ideally in a defense or maritime environment 
• Strong writing ability, with experience drafting briefs, operational documents, or formal correspondence for leadership or government review 
• Experience with procurement or purchasing, including vendor coordination and order tracking
• Experience with inventory tracking, property accountability, or supply systems 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
• Organized, resourceful, and self-directed, able to manage competing priorities in a working shop environment with minimal oversight 
• US Person status required (defense program context) 
• Must be able to pass a background check and be eligible to obtain a SECRET clearance

Preferred Qualifications::

• Military operations or administrative background (e.g., Navy operations specialist, yeoman, logistics specialist, or equivalent NCO experience) 
• Experience drafting military-style operational briefs, CONOPs, or after-action reports
• Experience with government property accountability (GFE/GFP) under FAR/DFARS property management requirements 
• Familiarity with continuous improvement or lessons learned programs 
• Event or exercise coordination experience supporting field operations
