About the Role

The Cashier/Kitchen Worker at Grab-N-Geaux #24 is a key team member responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience while supporting efficient store operations. This dual-role position requires managing front-of-house cashier duties with professionalism and accuracy, as well as performing back-of-house kitchen tasks with consistency and care.

Employees in this role contribute directly to the store’s success by handling customer transactions, preparing quality food items, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate balances strong customer service skills with reliable kitchen performance, ensuring that GNG24 continues to uphold its reputation for fast, friendly service and fresh, high-quality food. This position is essential in promoting repeat business and strengthening our connection with the community.

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Basic math skills and accuracy in handling cash transactions

• Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, reaching)

• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and coworkers

• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Previous experience in cashiering or food service

• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper hygiene practices

• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic kitchen equipment

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

• Customer service training or certification

• People's person and exceptional social skills

• Accurately perform transactions using the POS system

• Handle cash, credit, and debit payment transactions with correct change 

• Maintain a clean, organized front counter and kitchen area

• Address customer questions and resolve minor concerns promptly and politely

• Educate guests on our loyalty program and help customers get the best deals 

• Prepare and assemble food items according to Grab N Geaux recipes and quality standards

• Connect kitchen and cashier as a floor customer educator through BBQ samplings & educating guest on our daily specials and bbq plates 

• Ensure food is fresh, properly stored, and prepared using safe handling procedures

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen stations, equipment, and utensils

• Assist with restocking ingredients and disposables, and report low inventory to management

• Support smooth kitchen workflow during peak periods through teamwork and communication

• Cash Handling & Accuracy: Ensures error-free transactions and financial accountability

• Customer Service & Communication: Builds strong customer connections and enhances their experience

• Food Preparation & Safety: Supports consistent product quality and compliance with health regulations

• Multitasking & Time Management: Balances cashier responsibilities with kitchen duties, especially during rush hours

• POS & Equipment Familiarity: Improves efficiency and reduces training time (preferred)

• Teamwork & Problem-Solving: Helps maintain smooth operations and resolve customer or workflow challenges
