Job Description

The Personal Services and Pastoral Care Assistant will perform a wide range of personal, pastoral, and general support activities for the sisters who reside at Sacred Heart to ensure a high quality of life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

 

Personal and Pastoral care and assistance:

1. Accompany Sisters on medical visits and assist with meals upon their return if they are missed.

2. Communicate to nursing staff any follow-up information from the sister’s medical visits.

3. Observe and report changes in residents’ health, mood, or behavior to healthcare providers.

4. Offer companionship, active listening, and spiritual care in line with Catholic values; provide encouragement during illness, stress, or life transitions

5. Take time to pray, listen, read, and visit with Sister residents and encourage the sisters to join with others in daily creating of community

6. Assists new residents when moving in and helps them to adjust to their new surroundings.

7. Assists with reading of mail and letter writing with Sister residents.

8. Cares for residents in a friendly, courteous, and loving manner.

 

Office support:

1. Assist Coordinator in various projects utilizing Microsoft Word, Xcel, etc.

2. Register Sisters for absentee ballots and ensure all ballots are complete and mailed by the deadline.

3. Mails letters, words of remembrance and memorial cards to all parties on the deceased Sisters mailing list.

4. Assists and helps to organize services/functions for the sisters such as with preparations for Christmas, Easter, Jubilee, and other celebrations.

5. Assist with sorting, organizing, and disposing of Sisters personal belongings at the time of the sister’s passing.

9. Assists in providing clothing and nametags for sisters

10. Serves as an advocate for the sisters residing at Sacred Heart.

 

General support:

1. Serve in a variety of ways to enhance the lives of Sisters.

2. Available on-call weekends and holidays as needed.

3. Regular attendance is required.

4. Keep office area clean and tidy.

5. Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
