Manager, Sports Club & Director of Recreation Located south of Marfa, TX (Big Bend region) Overview Cibolo Sporting Club is a private, invitation-only club with a limited and distinguished membership. Set within the broader Cibolo Creek Ranch the club offers a highly personalized hunting and outdoor experience in a unique West Texas setting. We are seeking a Manager, Sports Club & Director of Recreation to lead day-to-day operations, elevate the member experience, and help shape the next phase of the club’s development. This role requires a rare combination of operational discipline, hospitality instincts, and deep familiarity with the hunting industry. Key Responsibilities Member Experience & Hospitality Serve as the primary point of contact for members, delivering a high-touch, personalized experience Host members and guests on property, ensuring seamless visits from arrival to departure Anticipate needs and proactively enhance the overall club experience Maintain a professional, discreet, and service-oriented presence at all times Club Operations Oversee daily operations of the sporting club, including scheduling, staffing, and logistics Implement and refine systems for communication, reservations, and member services Coordinate closely with ranch/resort teams to ensure alignment and efficiency Manage vehicles, equipment, and operational readiness across all club activities Hunting Program Management Plan, organize, and execute hunting experiences (big game and upland) Oversee guides and field staff; lead by example when needed in the field Contribute to the development of a high-fence preserve and expanding upland program Support the future launch of a commercial upland hunting operation (chukar, pheasant, quail) Facilities & Improvements Assist in the execution of ongoing upgrades (ranges, equipment, amenities) Maintain high standards across all club-related facilities and assets Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in infrastructure and service delivery Team Leadership & Recruitment Help recruit, train, and manage key staff, including guides and support personnel Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and hard work Lead a small, high-performing team with a hands-on approach Ideal Candidate Profile Strong hunting background—professional guide, outfitter, or equivalent experience required Prior experience managing a lodge, club, outfitting business, or similar operation preferred Comfortable operating in both field and administrative environments Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of building systems from the ground up Customer-facing and personable, with the ability to engage a sophisticated membership Demonstrates drive, ambition, and a strong work ethic—not a “caretaker” mindset Adaptable and resourceful; thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment Experience in upland bird hunting programs is a plus International experience (e.g., South African professional hunting background) viewed favorably Competitive salary, commensurate with experience On-site accommodations provided Company vehicle provided Opportunity to grow with a unique and evolving sporting club Additional Notes This role is not for someone seeking a passive management position.
