Renewable Energy Controls Engineer (PLC/SCADA & HMI)

Shape Clean Energy Controls from Day OneJoin WECTEC Staffing Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, and contribute to Westinghouse’s mission of delivering clean energy solutions. Based in Juno Beach, FL, this 1-year contract (W-2) role places you at the center of PLC/SCADA engineering for large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.A day in the lifeYou’ll move from whiteboard to field, turning requirements into reliable automation. In the morning, you might polish the control narrative and Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs) for a new PV+BESS site. Midday, you’re configuring SCADA points, testing Ignition HMI screens, and validating PLC logic in function block, structured text, and ladder. By afternoon, you’re driving Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), resolving integration issues with stakeholders, and documenting any design updates. When systems are ready, you’ll support commissioning and startup to bring clean energy online safely and efficiently.What you’ll deliverEnd-to-end PLC-based control solutions for renewable energy installationsRobust PLC programming using function blocks, structured text, and ladder logicSCADA configuration and maintenance for PV and BESS monitoring/controlHMI development and testing on the Ignition platformProject documentation: control narratives, O&M manuals, and FRDsFactory Acceptance Testing leadership and issue resolutionTimely troubleshooting and corrective action for control systemsDetailed records of designs, configurations, and change historyOn-the-ground support for commissioning and startupWhat you bringBachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field15 years of PLC programming and industrial controls experienceHands-on expertise with function blocks, structured text, and ladder logicProtocol fluency: Modbus, DNP3, OPC, etc.Experience with Schneider M340 or M580 PLCsIgnition HMI development experienceWorking knowledge of solar PV and battery storage systemsSolid grasp of electrical power systems and instrumentationFull project lifecycle exposure from design through commissioningFamiliarity with industry best practices for control systemsSafety, alwaysYour success matters—and so does your well-being.
