Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU
Location: Houston, TX
Employment Type: Contract
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. The RN will collaborate closely with physicians and the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care using the nursing process. This role focuses on monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safe transitions, and delivering patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams in delivering patient care
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for post-anesthesia patients
- Monitor patient recovery from anesthesia, including vital signs and pain management
- Assist with post-operative examinations and treatments
- Provide patient and family education regarding recovery and care instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Respond effectively to changes in patient condition in a fast-paced PACU environment
Must-Have:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas
- Minimum 1–2 years of acute care nursing experience
- Experience in PACU, ICU, or surgical recovery setting preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- PACU experience strongly preferred
- ACLS and PALS certifications
- Experience with post-operative patient care and anesthesia recovery
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Patient assessment and monitoring
- Post-anesthesia care
- Critical thinking and rapid response
- Patient education and communication
- Clinical documentation
