Chief of Security Agency Department of Corrections – Enid Community Corrections Center (DOC Enid CCC) Job Details Job Type: Regular, Full‑Time Compensation: $60,028.80 per year (Base) Posting End Date: Refer to the date listed at the top of this posting, if available. Continuous if date is blank. Basic Purpose This position involves the overall administration of a correctional security program at a state adult correctional facility or institution. Typical Functions Plans, directs, and administers overall security operations. Supervises and directs the work of subordinate staff. Issues directives, memoranda, and other information to subordinate personnel. Conducts inspections and staff meetings to review security operations and policies. Maintains cooperative working relationships with other law‑enforcement agencies. Ensures compliance by contractual agencies with departmental rules and regulations. Serves as a member of the institution management staff and participates in the formulation of institutional policies and procedures. Acts as duty officer on a rotating basis, managing the institution in the wardens’ absence. Conducts inmate interviews regarding work assignments, personnel problems, and other issues; counsels staff on disciplinary procedures. Establishes policies on contraband search and directs riot control, emergency response, and manhunt operations. Can act in the capacity of warden or deputy warden when required. Can be in charge of the facility after normal business hours. Level Descriptor At this level, employees coordinate and direct the entire security program of a community corrections center. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of modern prison management practices, use and care of firearms, community‑relations techniques, and supervisory methods. Ability to quickly evaluate situations and adopt an effective course of action. Ability to give and enforce orders with fairness, tact, and impartiality. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships. Ability to supervise and direct the work of others. Education and Experience Minimum age 20 years. Either 30 semester hours of college coursework or a high‑school diploma/GED plus a Department‑approved training course completed before employment or within the first six months. Four years of experience in correctional or security work for a government or private corrections agency. One year of that experience must have been in a supervisory capacity within a correctional institution. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience, including required credit hours in penology, psychology, sociology, or related fields. Special Requirements Good moral character. Completion of an adequate training program for correctional officers and guards, as approved by the State Board of Corrections. Annual physical fitness test in accordance with Department guidelines. Valid driver’s license. Drug testing. Meeting training and screening requirements conducted by the Department and certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training within 12 months of employment. Must not have a disqualifying criminal record, including non‑violent felonies, moral turpitude offenses, sex‑offender registration, domestic‑violence convictions, or dishonorable discharge from the armed services.
