Physicist - Radiation Oncology

The Medical Physicist is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of therapeutic ionizing radiation in collaboration with radiation oncologists and staff. Key duties include: maintaining regulatory compliance, developing and monitoring treatment guidelines, performing quality assurance on equipment, and overseeing radiation safety protocols. They must have certifications such as ABR Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiology Physics and IEMA Radiologic Technologist license, along with a master’s degree in physics or a related field. Responsibilities involve: conducting all aspects of medical physics in radiation therapy, performing equipment calibration and testing, maintaining documentation, participating in safety meetings, and supporting treatment planning and brachytherapy procedures. The role requires excellent communication skills, adherence to ethical standards, and proactive participation in departmental projects and regulatory tasks. Candidates should be skilled in radiation therapy modalities including brachytherapy, SRS, SBRT, and radiation shielding, with experience in clinical QA, equipment evaluation, and project development.
