Job Title - PT Security Officer

Position Status - Part Time

Classification Title - Part-Time Security Officer-Up to 19 hpw

Job Summary - Provides personal, equipment, and real property security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors within an assigned area of the Midland College campus. Provides escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed, and performs routine security and public safety patrol duties within assigned area. Remains alert to emergency situations and provides first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required.

Required Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent Ability to successfully conduct security patrols without direct supervision Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to complete routine paperwork and safely operate a motor vehicle Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel Skill in performing building security and lock procedures Knowledge of the basic operations of computers and email Ability to walk considerable distances and perform moderate physical activity Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy

Physical Demands - Ability to walk considerable distances and operate College vehicles in a safe manner Moderate physical activity; requires handling of average-weight objects, standing or walking for extended periods of time, and climbing of stairs and ladders Use of manual dexterity The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises Work primarily in an outdoor environment The person in this position frequently communicates with others verbally and electronically; must be able to exchange accurate information Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus

Security Sensitivity - All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary - $12.00 per hour

Max Salary - $15.00 per hour
